11 Mar Get Lost and Find Your Way!
Family! Have you ever felt lost? Unsure how to find your way? This week’s Orisa Prayer and Meditation message on allowing ourselves to get lost in order to find our way was definitely one of those moments of preaching to myself — I’m glad it resonated with you too! I told a story of the ibeji, the divine twin children of Sango and Oya, who were told never to venture into the woods near their home for fear they would get lost or hurt. Well, as children do — and we’re all somebody’s children! — Taiwo and Kehinde didn’t listen to their parents and they went into the woods anyway and, just as was forewarned, they got lost.
They wandered in the woods for three days. Their parents were worried and all of the orisa came together to try and find them, but none could. While being lost was scary, the ibeji eventually found their way to a lake where they bathed and played. When they decided to drink some of the water, they found out that it was enchanted as, upon taking a sip, they immediately knew exactly which way to go to get home. They decided that they would take some of this enchanted water with them back to their parents and it turned out to be a big blessings for the whole community as the water had healing powers that helped many people.
The lesson? There are many but the most important is that sometimes we have to wander a bit in order to find our way to our destiny. There will be those who try to keep us from venturing off of the well-worn path and, while they mean well, succumbing to other people’s fear of the unknown can keep us from our greatest blessings. Especially when they’re people who we know love us and are only saying “don’t go!” because they want us to stay safe. But, the truth is this: safety isn’t guaranteed anywhere. And it is often through venturing out of our comfort zone that we find the treasures that, like the water the ibeji found, brings goodness not only to us, but also to those we care about.
Our message for the week from the 4 of swords reminds us of the importance of rest. While we’re out here doing all our good work in the world and finding our blessings and bliss, it’s important to remember that these bodies we’re in need recharging. Healthy food, water, movement, and adequate sleep are all a part of the recipe for staying well enough to make it do what it do. Here’s the thing too: either we choose the time for rest or our our body will choose it for us. So go on and lay on down somewhere, as our folks used to tell us.
Emerald is our crystal ally for the week and taps us into the frequency of universal love. Love is abundant and only multiplies when we share it, so love on somebody today, starting with yourself. And while you’re at it, don’t forget to pray for yourself and bless your ori for greatness!
May these messages and lessons resonate with you whenever you connect with them! Ase!
