Give, Receive, and Find the Treasure Within!

Alaafia Family! Have you ever felt away because you saw that others were not working as hard as you on what was supposed to be a team effort? This weeks Orisa Prayer and Meditation story from the merindinlogun corpus of Irosun speaks of a time when Orisa Oko felt just that: he was working hard and it seemed like everyone else was hardly working!

All of the orisa had been commissioned by Olodumare to come down and get the earth ready for human beings. When Orisa Oko got to the Earth he immediately started working planting grass trees, making food grow and doing all of the things that he had been commissioned to do. When he took a break from his work and walked around, though, he saw that none of the other orisa were doing anything. He walked by Ogun’s forger and there was no fire, he walked by Osun at the riverbank, and she was just sitting there, he walked by several other places, and no one was engaged in the work they were supposed to be doing.

Seeing this, Orisa Oko did what many of us would do: he went back to Olodumare and complained! He said “why does it seem like I’m the only one working while everyone else is chilling?” Olodumare told him to calm his heart and to recognize that not everyone received their assignment at the same time, for some it would take longer to recognize what they had to do and get into the groove. Orisa Oko’s assignment was so crucial and so clear that he had to begin working on it immediately because some of the others could not do their work without him doing his first. Olodumare also assured him that he would receive his just rewards in the end.

Still a little skeptical, Orisa Oko went back to his work. Upon. Taking his next break and surveying things, he found that now everyone was up working and that some of them had even done things that would greatly help him with his own work! He fell into rhythm with all the other orisa and they did a great job of preparing the earth together.

So, what are our lessons here? First of all, it’s important for us to recognize that we all have our own timing in this life. Some of us come to the world very clear of who we are and what we’re meant to do and we start on our journey early, like the gymnast (hi Simone Biles!) who begins training at five years old and knows that’s what they love from such an early age. Others take time to explore the world and figure out what it is that they’re good at and that they enjoy. It’s not fair to judge others for taking a little longer to figure things out.

As well, when we have a deep purpose and are working to fulfill it, we have to trust that spirit will provide for us. we will not always get our accolades from the other other people around us, but spirit will make it clear to us that we are being taken care of, and that’s the most important thing of all.

Get into our power statement for the week:

As I give, I receive!

Spirit brings the Sybil (Queen) of Pentacles through with a timely message that we have done a lot of good work and now is the moment for harvest. This is a time when we are being called to appreciate ourselves and all that we have already done, to reap the benefits and celebrate. Don’t stress yourself out over anything that hasn’t been completed, instead admire all that has grown from the seeds you have planted and bask in your own glory!

Jade, our crystal ally, comes through to remind us that we have many hidden treasures, gifts, and talents within us that have yet to be tapped. What internal goodies are waiting in the wings for you? What is holding you back from tuning into them? This week, Jade encourages you to seek and find the things that are locked inside of you just waiting to pop out and show people!

May these messages and lessons resonate with you whenever you connect with them! Ase!

Greeting Ase Ire. I would like to thank you for the message Give, Receive and find the treasure within.

As I started to read, I was reminded of a dream Ii received last week where there was a call for members of my community to receive paid work on a 3 day project in a house. On day one, I got to work upstsirs in the house and realised half way through the day, I was the only person working. Everyone else was sat comfortably laughing and joking in a room downstairs.

On day 2, the same again and I made complaint to the project manager who arrived. I had to leave my work to open the door as no one else got up to answer the PM’sknock at the door. The PM who arrived with a police officer, didn’t seem too bothered by my complaint and was reluctant to make any comment to the others.

I woke from my sleep, wondering what the dream meant. As I type, I am receiving more understanding of my dream.

Thank you for sharing this story. .
