Mind Your Own Head First and Get Things Poppin!

Bless up Family! Are you one to try to help everyone else before making sure you have what YOU need? This week’s Orisa Prayer and Meditation message  from unle odi says stop it!

The story I told spoke of the time when Obatala had first been commissioned to craft bodies, both human and animals. The first blueprint he was provided by Olodumare didn’t include a head, so both humans and animals were running around headless, which you can imagine didn’t make for the best time for anyone.

Obatala went back to Olodumare and asked if he could slightly tweak the design to include a head and Olodumare agreed. All the humans and animals were excited as they began to see others with heads and were awaiting their turn. The crab (hey cancers!) was particularly excited to receive its head and it went to Obatala to ask when it would get one.

Obatala told the crab that he had to handle others’ heads first, but that it should come back in a few days and he’d take care of it. The crab left and made it a personal mission to go to tell alllll the creatures in Olokun’s realm, the sea, that Obatala was giving out heads and they should go get one. The animals all thanked the crab and they all went to get their heads.

By the time the crab finished sending all the creatures to Obatala, more than a few days had passed. When the crab finally made it back to Obatala, all the heads were gone. Obatala asked what had happened to the crab and why it hadn’t come back sooner like he told it to. It said that it had gone to tell the others to come first and it was hoping there would still be a head left, but there wasn’t.

Obatala apologized and said the best he could do is give the crab big eyes that stick out of the body so that it could see better, and this is why the crab has no head but has large eyes that stick right out of its body.

Lots to learn from this! The primary thing being not to miss our own blessing trying to help others. While assisting others is an honorable thing to do, so is assisting ourselves! Sometimes we try to share things prematurely, before we’ve even had a chance to receive or enjoy them, not realizing that this is actually often a sign of people-pleasing and not feeling ourselves worthy of basking in the blessing. You ARE worthy! So make sure you get yours first!

Another lesson here is that “not right now” doesn’t mean “no.” When the crab asked Obatala for a head, he didn’t say it couldn’t have one, but it did say it had to wait and come back at the appointed time. All blessings have their own timing to them so, just because you didn’t get what you asked for the first time, don’t think you won’t get it. But do remember, you DO have to go back and try again before its too late and the moment has passed.

Our message for the week comes from the 3 of Wands which encourages us to jump in and get things poppin! You’ve thought about it, prayed about it, and  talked about it–now it’s time to be about it! This is a time for action, so ask the ori of your feet to lead you where you need to go and pray that you get there in perfect timing. If something you tried before didn’t work, dust yourself off and try again!

Crystal ally clear quartz amplifies all it comes into contact with, so this message is coming with an exclamation point! Be of clear heart, clear mind, and clear intention and know that whatever you focus on, whatever you lend your energy to will multiply. Are you focusing on what you have or what you don’t have? Why you can or why you can’t? What could go wrong or what could go right? Choose wisely.

May these messages and lessons resonate with you whenever you connect with them! Ase!
