Remember Your Foundation, Stay in Balance, and Shine!

Blessings Fam! This week’s Orisa Prayer and Meditation message had an important reminder for us around acting “brand new” and forgetting how we got where we are. The story came from the odu Ifa iwori irete and spoke of a man named Ifamuregun who was destined from birth to become a babalawo (Ifa priest). He learned well and became a very good and prominent priest and made a lot of money which he, in turn, invested in other business ventures.

He began to make so much money in those other ventures, in fact, that he stopped seeing his Ifa clients and even stopped doing his personal worship. Naturally, things began to fall apart and he began to lose all that he had attained. Upon seeking divination, he was told he needed to return to his worship of Ifa and his service to the community as an Ifa priest and he would see his blessings rise again.

Major lesson here! How we got it is how we’re gonna keep it! Many times, we pray and stay close to spirit when in need and then fall off of our worship when things begin to go well. Iwori irete tells us to stay close to spirit always so that our blessings won’t be short-lived. Another lesson here is that there are many roads that may bring us income and success, but that doesn’t mean they are leading us to our true destiny — the place that feels most resonant in our spirits and will allow for long-lasting success and happiness. Don’t leave long-term good for a short-term gain.

Tap into our power statement for the week: I remember my foundation!

Temperance, our card for the week, reminds us of the importance of staying in balance emotionally and practically. There are times when we have an emotional connection to things that are not working for us on a practical level. We have to be willing to let go and not let our emotions take over in an unproductive way. Balancing our reaction to criticism is also indicated here. Sometimes, what we take as someone “hating” is really them offering a valid critique of what we’re doing but our emotional reaction doesn’t allow us to see that and use it to better ourselves. It’s not always easy to hear, and is not always delivered as smoothly as it should be, but accepting critical feedback is crucial to improvement.

Our crystal ally for the week, spessartine garnet, says it’s your time to shine! Get out of your own way and stop playing yourself small. As I offered during Monday Motivation, know that people need and desire what you have to offer! So don’t be afraid to offer it often. Don’t feel like you’re “bothering people” or “being self-centered” by sharing your gifts with the world. Trust me, people are WAITING to receive what you have and will be so happy that you offered it to them. So turn on the charm and share your gifts boldly!

May these messages and lessons resonate with you whenever you connect with them! Ase!
