Take Your Place of Prominence and Enjoy Your Experience!

Bless up fam! Do you ever fall into the mindset of expecting the worst? Many of us do, and often that expectation is based on someone else’s experience rather than our own. Big no no!

This week’s Orisa Prayer and Meditation lesson came from the odu okanran meji and told the story of omu (the breast) who was due to come to aye (earth) but didn’t want to. She had seen other body parts come and thought their jobs looked too hard and too dirty for her to want to do them. The feet being on the ground, the hands digging in the dirt, the head having to think think through problems all the time… she didn’t want to do any of that.

She kept having the feeling she was supposed to go, however, so she went to see the diviner of orun (the spiritual realm) to see if there was a way to get out of it.

The diviner told her that she had to go, but that she shouldn’t worry because her job wouldn’t be hard and dirty like the others. In fact, she would be very prominent, being at the front of the body, and she’d be constantly sought after to be pampered and caressed and showered with attention. She would, of course, have work to do but the work would be temporary and even as she was working feeding the babies of the world, she would experience pleasure.

Omu was shocked to hear all of this! But she was relieved and decided to come to aye to take her place of prominence after all.

Many lessons here! First, is that we cannot make blanket assumptions about a person, place, or thing based on someone else’s  experience. While it is important to observe and learn from others, it’s also important to know that we are unique beings having our own time in the world. What someone else found difficult, we may do with ease. What someone else failed at, we may succeed! So don’t let someone else’s hard time dissuade you from having the experience you’re meant to have.

Another gem: we can only run from our destiny for so long. When we’re truly meant to do something, our spirit will continue to nudge us until we do it! No matter how scared we may be or how difficult we think it is, we will have to take the step forward. Listen to those soul nudges and take your place in the world. Tap into our power statement for the week:

I will take my place of prominence!

Spirit brings the 9 of cups through to remind us of our great power of manifestation! This is a time when the things you desire can (and will) come to you, if only you get clear about them and call them in. Pray, meditate, light candles, affirm yourself—however you tap into universal energy, it’s time to make it do what it do!

Orange sapphire, our crystal ally, reconnects us with our bodies and their experience of pleasure and joy. Do something sensual for yourself, take a nice shower or bath, slather yourself with sweet smelling oils or creams, put on some smell-good, take some nice deep breaths, move and gyrate. Enjoy your body! It’s the only one you’ve got and it’s carrying you through, give thanks for it!

May these messages and lessons resonate with you whenever you connect with them! Ase!
